Technical Staff

Head Coach - Ben Clarvis

Ben Clarvis is in his first year as head coach of Denton Diablos, after spending the previous 4 years helping establish Irving FC in the NPSL, qualifying for the Lone Star Conference playoffs in 2022.

Ben has previous coaching stops as an assistant Head Coach at Austin College, an assistant coach at Quincy University, the associate head coach for FC Cleburne (PDL), and most notably, served as the Assistant Head Coach for the Denton Diablos under Head Coach Chad Rakestraw in our inaugural 2019 NPSL season.

Ben is also the director of coaching
at the AYSES Soccer Club in McKinney, overseeing 14 of their highest level teams.
He holds an UEFA B coaching License and a
USSF B coaching License.

He was previously a standout player at Division II Midwestern State in Wichita Falls from 2012-2015, making two Sweet Sixteen appearances in the NCAA tournament and earning NSCAA All-Region honors as a defender in 2015 when the Mustangs posted an undefeated regular season.

During his collegiate summers, Clarvis was a member of King Warriors (Bluefield, W.Va.) and
Midland Sockers (Midland, Texas) of the USL PDL. Prior to enrolling at Midwestern State, Clarvis was an apprentice at Plymouth Argyle FC from 2008-2011 in southern England.

Clarvis graduated from Midwestern State in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in business
administration and earned an MBA from Quincy University in 2019.

Assistant Coach - Tim Trevino

Tim Trevino is in his first year as an assistant coach with the Diablos. Tim has been coaching in the DFW area for over 20 years and holds a United States Soccer Federation “A” license.

Tim was a 2-time Collegiate All American at Oklahoma City University, and has been inducted into his both the Jesuit High School and Oklahoma City University Hall of Fames. He played professionally in both the USA and the Czech Republic First Division during his playing career, before ultimately transitioning into coaching over 20 years ago.

Tim currently serves on the National Premier League (NPL) Advisory Board 2021. He established a training facility in 2003 in Plano, home to American Academy of Soccer, and where he calls home to this day.

Assistant Coach Taylor Goyen

Taylor Goyen enters his first season with the Diablos as an Assistant Coach. Taylor is currently the head coach of the Austin College men’s soccer program. Goyen is a 2019 graduate of Austin College, and before joining the athletics staff at his alma mater served as an assistant for both the men’s and women’s programs at Ranger College.

Goyen, a native of Frisco, was a midfielder for the ‘Roo men’s soccer team during his time in Sherman. Goyen has coached at Ranger College, as an assistant for both the men’s and women’s programs at Sul Ross State University, an assistant coach for the Schreiner University women’s program and as an assistant for former head coach Mark Hudson at Austin College during the 2018 season, and currently holds a USSF D license.
