If we would have believed the weather reports, there was no way we were going to ever play this game! But the soccer Gods smiled upon beautiful Denton, America, parted the clouds of thunder and lightning, and provided an absolutely amazing backdrop for what was, by far, the most dominant performance of the Diablos young season. On the back of a Maycol Reyes set piece curler that kissed off the inside of the post in the 8th minute, the Diablos never looked back. Eduardo Cerna provided a brace (Two Goals) that stretched across the first and second halves, picking up first first goal on a breakaway in the 40th minute, before hammering the nails in the coffin of West Texas FC in the 75th minute when he danced his way through multiple defenders before curling in the far post dagger.
West Texas would not go quietly into the sweet night, taking home a consolation goal, much to the chagrin of the small but vocal West Texas FC visiting supporter section, in the 93rd minute.
The Diablos move to 2W-0L-1D on the season, sitting at 2.3 points per game, and in third place in the conference.
